we need gammie

last night was rough...easton has been sleeping through the night lately so i was completely unprepared for the up every 2hours game. then to make is even more fun, every single diaper was so wet and leaked through to the onsie and swaddling blanket, and yesterday i finally had all the laundry caught up. needless to say we need gammie back, she magically and instantly can put him back to sleep!

bringin' home baby

thankfully we only had to stay one night in the hospital, i guess technically it was two nights, but one with baby e. we came home thursday afternoon to a house that still needed to be packed. since i have failed to mention it earlier, jeremy has taken a position with apple as a senior manager in the arrowhead store, and we have been fortunate enough to move back home! we are so excited, but it has made for a crazy couple of weeks.

we were home with easton for one night. friday jeremy and his friends loaded the truck, dad came back to town and drove the truck down to the valley. that night we stayed in a hotel.

we were so tired from a LONG day of packing

saturday my mom drove me and easton down to the valley and we got dad and continued on to spend the week in vegas, while jeremy worked his last week in flagstaff. we were reunited on thursday for the easter holiday. it was a rough week for me recovering, and for jeremy being away from his sweet baby boy. thankfully my headache finally went away and my body was able to heal itself without needing a second blood patch.

we are so blessed that my parents were able to have easton and i in their home for a week, my mom was a lifesaver!

welcome, sweet baby.

our sweet baby easton finally arrived, six days late, april 13th at 1:35am. he was a healthy 8lbs 5oz and 21inches long. labor was induced and long, and recovery has been slow but steady, i am so thankful for all the help i have had from my mom and jeremy is the BEST dad ever. he is such a sweet spirit and blessing in our lives.

i was so lucky to have been surrounded by family and friends for the week leading up to easton's birth. my mom came into town, then the mcdaniel's came up over the weekend and brought nana. we had such a wonderful time...sadly no baby came. at the doc on monday we decided to induce as baby was getting bigger and we were moving the following weekend (we like to keep it complicated!). i was able to get the last opening in labor & delivery for tuesday morning. that night my dad, challis, and caitlyn came into town to join the party!

waiting for easton
my tummy was about to bust

we began the induction process tuesday april 12th at 5am. a series of 3 gels were inserted every 2 hours, slowly but surely labor began. around 3 o'clock that afternoon my doctor came to assess the situation and decided to break my water. that really got things going. but sadly progress stalled around 8pm, i was exhausted and quickly losing motivation. at this point i knew i just did not have the energy and asked for the epidural. my excellent support team (jer and mom) tried to talk me out of it, knowing that i really wanted a natural birth. after talking about it through a couple of contractions we knew it was the best choice. luckily for me the anesthesiologist was already on the floor and was there within 10min of me making my decision. you see in flagstaff the guy with the pain meds is on call 24hrs but not necessarily in house the entire 24hrs. i was nice and numb by 9pm and they started the pitocin at 10pm, i was "practice" pushing by 12am, the doctor arrived around 1:15am (he also was on the floor already when the nurses called him) and baby e was welcomed to this world by lots of family, wonderful nurses, and a great doc at 1:35am.

tender moment with my mom

it was a very long day, but we received the greatest gift ever! easton is such a blessing and so fun to have in the home. i am so thankful for jeremy's support and coaching through labor, i could not have done it without him. i was blessed to have my family there with me as well, my mom was a huge support to jeremy and i, and was there every step of the way.
